You’re not alone. A recent survey by the American Psychological Association (“Stress in America 2024”) shows that we have A LOT of political and societal stressors on our minds recently.

  • 69% of American adults are feeling stressed about the upcoming presidential election.

  • More than 7 in 10 adults reported stress regarding the future of our nation,

  • And 73% of adults feeling significant stress over the economy.

Other societal stressors reported, include:

  • Health care 55%

  • Global tension/conflict 51%

  • Environmental 51%

The list goes on.  Basically, we are all feeling the stress - on top of all our normal everyday stressors!

We are feeling mentally exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, etc. While stress affects us all differently, many of the effects are physical: neck aches, headaches, jaw clenching, loss or increase of appetite, and sleep disruptions.  (Read more about what stress does to the body here.)

While this election cycle is about to close, the external stressors will continue to affect us, it won’t simply dissipate after Election Day.

That’s why this November after the election is over, let’s focus on self-gratitude and relieving the weight of that stress.

  • Take time for you,

  • turn off any unnecessary notifications,

  • enjoy this beautiful fall we are having and spend some time in nature,

  • and schedule some quiet time with a massage.

A massage therapy session can help quiet the mind, ease the stress-induced tension throughout the body, and leave you feeling more at ease.
